Bonsall Park North in Glendale, Arizona is a wonderful 10-acre park located in the heart of Glendale on the corner of Bethany Home Road and 59th Ave. This park has been a gathering place for Glendale residents for more than 40 years and was once known as “chicken park”.
Bonsall Park North in Glendale is divided in to two parks known as Bonsall Park North and Bonsall Park South. Most of the athletic facilities are located in the Bonsall Park North section while Bonsall Park South is known for the fishing lake. You know you’ve arrived to Bonsall Park North when you see the F-100D Super Sabre Air Force jet perched as a landmark in the center of the park.
The amenities at Bonsall Park North include two basketball courts and two volleyball courts, six racquetball courts, two tennis courts, a playground, and of course the pickleball courts.
How Many Pickleball Courts Are at Bonsall Park North?
The Bonsall Park pickleball facility includes 8 outdoor dedicated courts located right along 59th Avenue and just next to the tennis courts.
These pickleball courts at Bonsall Park definitely are getting used, but considering the number of courts and their central location in Glendale it seems they should be busier. Most likely, some pickleball players may choose other locations to play as this park has been known in the past several years to draw a large homeless population and the park has had an increase in safety problems. My advice would be to be aware of your surroundings if you decide to play here.
