Our goal is to share details about public pickleball courts in and around the Phoenix area, where any pickleball player can play with no fees or memberships required to play.
We have included the GR Herberger Park pickleball courts with our Scottsdale group of courts for good reason. For clarification, these courts technically are in the City of Phoenix and the park is managed and run by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation department.
However, the courts and the park are within a mile of the City of Scottsdale border in a very good location near Old Town Scottsdale and Scottsdale Road. So, if you want to play some pickleball and then grab a few drinks or dinner after, the GR Herberger pickleball courts offer a prime location near many restaurants, bars, and shopping.
The Park itself must be one of the smallest parks in all of Phoenix. There is not a lot of room to roam around at this park and the few amenities available include a play field for the little ones, lighted sand volleyball courts, two tennis courts and of course the pickleball courts.

How Many Pickleball Courts Are at GR Herberger Park?
The GR Herberger Park pickleball courts include 4 outdoor dedicated courts with permanent lines that stay very busy during peak playing hours in the morning and evenings.
The pickleball courts at G R Herberger Park draw players from all levels of play, and the park is known for having a good “Paddles Up” waiting system with the paddle rack hanging on the fence near the far set of pickleball courts. If you are ok with a bit of wait time during peak playing hours this is a very fun and social place to play.
