Our goal is to share details about public pickleball courts in and around the Phoenix area, where any pickleball player can play with no fees or memberships required to play.
Telephone Pioneers of America Park is located on the west side of Phoenix just off 19th Ave and north of Bell Road. This park used to have tennis courts as part of the park amenities, but those courts have been replaced by pickleball courts and they are much busier than the tennis courts used to be.
This park is one of the older parks in the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation system and appears to need a bit of sprucing up in some areas. I mean no disrespect to those that live nearby the park, but one should know the neighborhood and surrounding area is a bit sketchy so I am not too sure I would feel comfortable playing here at night.
If you do plan to visit, the amenities at Telephone Pioneer Park include a small heated pool, a wheelchair-accessible playground, an 18 station exercise course, racquetball, volleyball, basketball, baseball, ramadas, and of course, the pickleball courts.

How Many Pickleball Courts Are at Telephone Pioneers of America Park?
The pickleball courts at Telephone Pioneers of America Park include 4 outdoor dedicated courts with permanent lines and lights for evening play. The courts at the Park are located towards the rear of the park so you need to walk past the playground and baseball field before you see the pickleball courts near the rear of the park.
I thought the courts were showing a bit of wear, but overall were still in decent shape when I visited so I think these courts would be nice to play on for those that live nearby. Like I said, I thought the area was a bit sketchy, so that would be my only concern if I were to play here regularly.
