Sandpiper Park in Phoenix has 4 dedicated pickleball courts located on the edge of the Phoenix city limits, just a short distance from Scottsdale. Added in late 2023 as part of a park renovation, the courts are still relatively new and in excellent condition, a welcome addition for pickleball players in this part of the Valley.
The park is conveniently located near the Westin Kierland Resort area, accessible from Scottsdale Road on one side and 64th Street on the other, just south of Greenway Parkway. It is a well-situated neighborhood park that serves both Phoenix and Scottsdale area residents equally well.

There are 4 dedicated pickleball courts at Sandpiper Park. The courts were created when the City of Phoenix removed two existing tennis courts and replaced them with four dedicated pickleball courts during the 2023 park renovation. On my visits the courts looked to be in great condition, clean, well-maintained, and still relatively new. If I lived in the area these courts would definitely be on my regular play list.
The courts operate on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved for private or commercial use. A court rotation system is in place and clearly outlined on the posted rules sign at the facility. When four or more players are waiting, groups of four rotate on together. The winning team may stay on for a maximum of two games and must accept challenges from waiting players, a fair and organized system that keeps open play moving smoothly.
A few friendly reminders posted at the facility worth knowing before you visit: proper court etiquette is expected, tennis court shoes with non-marking soles are required, and no glass, pets, skates, skateboards, bicycles, or scooters are allowed on the courts.
The park is open daily from 5:30 am to 10 pm and dogs are welcome, making Sandpiper a genuinely pleasant neighborhood destination beyond just the pickleball courts.
Word among local players is that Sandpiper Park tends to be less busy than some of the larger facilities in the area, which could mean shorter wait times for open play.
